These are super simple, super quick, yummy burger patties. They all have the same basic recipe, and they're very adaptable, so you can make them with what you have on hand!
Lentil Patties

1 can (15oz) brown or green lentils, or about 2 cups cooked brown or green lentils
1/2 cup rolled oats
Spices: cumin, salt, pepper- to taste (make sure not to overdo the chili!)
Optional - 1/4 cup carrots, 1 clove of garlic
Chickpea Patties (just like Falafels)

1 can (18oz) chickpeas
1/2 cup rolled oats
Spices: parsley, cumin, salt, pepper - to taste
Optional - 1/2 onion, 1 clove of garlic
Black Bean Patties
1 can (15oz) black beans
1/2 cup rolled oats
Spices: cumin, chili, salt, pepper - to taste
Optional - 1/4 cup bell peppers and 1/4 cup onions, 1 clove of garlic
INSTRUCTIONS FOR ALL PATTIES:
1. If adding vegetables/garlic, cut these into small pieces then cook in a pan on medium heat with a little oil until soft.
2. Meanwhile, mash the chickpeas/beans/lentils in a large bowl.
3. Blend the oats with the spices, until it has a flour-like consistency.
4. Add in the oat mixture to the mash, along with vegetables and garlic if using them.
5. Form balls with your hands and flatten them to make the form of large or small patties (should make 4-8)*.
6. In a pan on medium heat (same one used for vegetables/garlic if using), add a little oil oil then place the patties on it.
7. Cook until brown on either side (about 4 minutes each side).
*Personally, I make small patties since I don't place these in a bun. My favourite way to eat them are with potatoes, cucumber tomato salad and guacamole!
